Piriformis/Gluteous Stretch

Many of our patients visit our office with buttocks pain.  The pain is often related to increased exercise, such as walking and running.  This pain is often due to a tight or irritated piriformis and/or gluteal muscles.

One of the best stretches for loosening this group of muscles involves a foam roller.

The stretch:
Sit on side of gluteus area with the opposite ankle across the quads.

Balance on hand and one foot holding the "hot spot" until the pain diminishes.

Roll on top of the glut to the middle of the buttocks.
