Active Hamstring Stretch
People often do the hamstring stretch by putting their legs straight across a table or ledge and leaning into the muscle to feel the stretch. While this is a great idea and a great stretch for the muscle belly of the hamstring it often does not get to the origin of the muscle. Often times with hamstring strains its the origin by the buttocks that needs to be stretched the most. This is a stretch that will effectively target that area.

1) Lie on your back.
2) Bring knee towards chest while holding onto the back of the leg. |

3) Straighten leg while holding knee as close to chest as possible.
4) Hold stretch for 30 seconds to 1 minute.
Do 3 times a day if possible. |
