At this busy time of the month, who has time to exercise? Sometimes it is ok to take a break, but food and drink must also be taken in moderation. Be sure to enjoy yourself, but also remember that you need to take care of yourself as well. Be safe and best wishes for the upcoming new year!

Since Christmas is fast approaching it seems that this is another year that the Nintendo Wii will be one of the hottest selling toys. This is a great device since it allows adolescents and adults alike to actually get up and move around while they play their video games, as opposed to sitting in a stationary position for extended periods of time. With constant movement you will actually be utilizing calories and getting a workout which is much healthier to a person then being sedentary. The Wii is a breakthrough since it is becoming an epidemic problem that children are becoming more and more unhealthy as a result of becoming inactive.

why shouldn't I use heat? it feels good!
Just because something feels good doesn't mean that its doing good things for you. When heat is typically used, it is often for chronic situations or problems that have been around for a long time. Heating an area will create vasodilation into an area, which essentially means that the blood vessels in your body will open up and flush more blood to an area.

tibialis anterior stretch
Runners in particular are prone to overuse injuries due to the constant movement of the foot. Muscles in the shin are connected to the foot and are constantly contracting to help move the foot upward everytime it is about to land on the ground. Acute injuries to the shins are rare and can occur with ankle sprains. However repetitive motions with the foot over pronating or supinating can lead to execessive amounts of pull in the front side of the portion of the leg below the knee.

jj hill
JJ Hill is a regular everyday guy with one exception, he is obsessed with the E-Venti Marathon. The E-Venti Marathon is the only marathon to take place in Richmond. JJ has been the race director for 3 years and he has put his blood, sweat and tears into organizing all aspects of this event. This marathon is a fun event with the winner being the runner with the best poker hand, and not being the runner with the fastest time!
