Time to think about training outdoors again! With the milder weather, a lot more people are taking advantage and heading out to do their first races of the year, or even heading out for a longer stroll. Whatever you do, enjoy the outdoors as much as possible and get out of the house. Did you make a resolution at the beginning of the year? Time to make sure you are still on track with your goals.
spring training
sun run preparation
time to train for the sun runAs we approach Spring you may see more and more runners, walkers and cyclists on the streets.  They are likely preparing for some upcoming events.  The biggest of these events is the Vancouver Sun Run.  The Sun Run takes place in April and is a fantastic event to set your sights on, even if you are not a runner.
stretch of the month

soleus and gastroc stretch
PHNewsletterHeaderRunners and walkers often experience calf and/or foot tightness.  Anyone experiencing calf or plantar facsia (area of the bottom of the foot) pain may benefit from a gentle stretch of the calf muscles.
athlete of the month (again!)

benji chu
PHNewsletterHeaderOn February 3, 2008, Benji Chu completed the Huntington Beach Marathon.  This marathon was his 12th of twelve marathons to support the S.O.S. Children's Village foundation in Battambang, Cambodia.  In his attempt to complete 12 marathons in 12 months, he and his family had to face many obstacles.
common condition
degenerative spine disease and you
Often times people claim they have constant pain and stiffness in their spine and, if fortunate enough, they will get their spine x-rayed.  Upon x-ray examination (especially for people over 30) the x-ray report will say the same thing: decreased disc space, osteophyte formation, hypertrophy of other joints. What does this all mean and how did this happen without your own knowledge?
